A 66-year-old man from Woodland Hills, working on a television series, died in a car accident early Saturday morning. The tragedy unfolded on the northbound side of a freeway in San Dimas around 4:30 am after the individual had finished a demanding 14-hour overnight shift. The man was a crew member involved in several premier productions involving big brand networks.The unidentified individual was primarily deployed as a grip on several successful projects, including ‘Six Feet Under,’ ‘Star Trek’, and the recent 2021 Marvel film ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.’ The man was currently serving on the ABC series ‘9-1-1,’ according to fellow filmmakers.Sources indicate that the man was driving a Toyota Highlander when, in an unfortunate turn of events, his vehicle veered off the roadway, escalated an embankment, and capsized – landing on its roof. He was pronounced dead at the scene.Information gathered suggests that alcohol might have been a contributing factor to the accident.Issues of long work shifts and nighttime commuting are familiar in the film industry, a topic currently in negotiation between the industry labor union and major movie studios.
