A 15-year-old boy tragically lost his life following a shocking collision with a semi-truck on the freeway late Monday night. Sources report that the incident took place after an attempted pursuit involving a stolen vehicle the teenager was allegedly driving. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the teenager, a resident of Long Beach whose identity has been kept undisclosed, was behind the wheel of a stolen 2020 Kia, heading north on the 710 Freeway south of Anaheim Street.According to the CHP, the teenage driver attempted to overtake a Freightliner truck around 10:30 p.m. They believe that he was trying to exit the freeway, but instead, his car ended up directly in the path of the Freightliner. The resulting collision led to the Kia being hit on the right side and subsequently bursting into flames.Following the crash, four other individuals were also transported to trauma centers. These included the teenager’s three passengers, another boy aged 14, and two girls, ages 13 and 15. All of these individuals reportedly suffered moderate injuries. The state of the 22-year-old man driving the Freightliner has not been detailed as yet. CHP opened the full freeway after the necessary investigation and clear-up.At this point, the CHP stated that it is unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in this unfortunate incident.
