Sources say that a single-vehicle crash in Pasadena took the lives of three individuals and left three others injured. The incident occurred in the 2300 block of Foothill Boulevard at approximately 2:38 a.m. on May 11. The vehicle involved was a 2018 Tesla Model 3. Authorities report that the Tesla was traveling west on Foothill Boulevard at an approximate speed of over 100 mph, disregarding a red traffic signal at Sierra Madre Boulevard. The vehicle narrowly missed a vehicle moving northbound at the intersection before losing control near Vista Avenue. After hitting the curb, the car crashed into a streetlight, flew into the air, and subsequently collided with a power pole and a vacant building approximately 130 feet away. All the victims were thrown from the Tesla upon impact. Among the deceased is 22-year-old Moheb Samuel, the driver of the Tesla, who was declared dead at the scene. The other two fatalities consisted of an unidentified front-seat passenger and a 20-year-old backseat passenger named Stefan Pfeifer. A 17-year-old female passenger is currently in critical condition, while the remaining two passengers, aged 18 and 20, were taken to the hospital and reported to be in stable condition. Toxological tests will be conducted by the county’s medical examiner’s office to ascertain whether drug or alcohol consumption was a factor in this accident.
