In the early hours of Tuesday, a van met a fiery end after plummeting nearly 200 feet down the side of a cliff in the San Gabriel Valley. The incident was first reported at approximately 12:15 a.m. near South Turnbull Canyon Road and Beverly Hills Drive in Whittier.Firefighters who arrived on the scene were greeted with both the vehicle and surrounding vegetation ablaze. Video footage of the incident showed that fire crews managed to run a hose line down the steep hillside, where they successfully extinguished the van, which was nearly completely consumed by the fire.As of now, sources indicate that it is still uncertain whether anyone was harmed during the incident. A full examination of the circumstances leading up to the crash, in hopes of uncovering a definitive cause, is currently underway.
