A devastating multi-car collision resulted in the death of a Menifee family, including three young sisters and their mother, while returning home from a road trip to Texas. The accident happened on July 12 on Interstate 10 near Quartzsite, Arizona also taking the life of their mother’s friend and her 13-year-old son.According to sources from Arizona’s Department of Public Safety, the collision happened as traffic was slowing down due to a repaving project. A utility truck, loaded with asphalt, crashed into the rear of the family’s car, resulting in a five-vehicle crash that killed all six passengers in the car.Sources say the three Perez sisters were bright and respectful children: 12-year-old Olivia was approaching her teenage years with sass and flair, 11-year-old Emalynn was passionate about learning, and the youngest, 8-year-old Giana, was described as a candid and spirited child. All three girls were passionate about softball. In their community, the Menifee Girls Softball League paid tribute to the girls, emphasizing that their shy nature transformed when they were on the softball field, surrounded by friends, family, and teammates. The tragedy has also led to an outpouring of condolences for their mother, Karly, their mother’s friend, Heather Ventura, and her son, Lucas Tejada. A vigil to remember the girls and their mother is planned for Wednesday at Centennial Park in Menifee.
