A man was found stabbed to death following what initially appeared to be a car crash at a busy intersection in Lennox, on June 18, 2024. According to witnesses, the gruesome incident began with a rear-end collision involving the victim’s SUV around 12:24 p.m. at the intersection of 111th Street and Larch Avenue.
The drivers of both vehicles exited their cars following the collision. The man who was rear-ended was stabbed during what seems to be an ensuing confrontation. Responding officials discovered the victim with stab wounds on his torso and transported him to a hospital where he was later declared dead.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene before the arrival of the authorities and continues to elude capture. Detailed events leading to the brutal confrontation are still under investigation and remain unclear. An Infiniti SUV, presumably involved in the incident, was towed away from the scene.
In the aftermath of the event, a considerable section of the street was closed off for investigative purposes. Detectives are also reportedly investigating another location in Hawthorne, near Imperial Highway and Hawthorne Boulevard, which may have links to the incident.
Authorities are encouraging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward. Anonymous tips may be submitted online. The investigation is ongoing.
