A significant traffic collision occurred on Interstate 5, South of Weldon Canyon, earlier today. The incident led to major traffic disruptions and resulted in substantial front and rear end damage to multiple vehicles, according to reports.The incident involved the collision of multiple vehicles, specifically a grey Kia Forte, a black unknown model, a light blue vehicle and several other vehicles. At least one individual was reported to be bleeding from the mouth, however, specific details on injuries have not been released.All lanes of the southbound I-5 near Weldon Canyon were initially blocked due to the incident. In order to manage the traffic situation, the California Highway Patrol worked to have at least one lane opened to allow the flow of traffic. The lane was subsequently opened for a fire engine.As a result of the severe vehicle damage, a total of four flatbed tow trucks were requested to assist with the scene. As of the latest update, the first and second lanes have been reopened while lanes three, four and five remain closed.Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the collision. According to one witness, a black SUV was reportedly driving at speeds of approximately 80-90 mph and caused the collision by failing to stop as other vehicles were slowing down due to traffic.Further updates will be provided as the situation develops and more information is made available.
