According to sources, a car chase ended in a fiery crash on the 710 Freeway near the Anaheim Street exit in Long Beach. The incident, which took place around 10:30 p.m. Monday, resulted in at least four people being transported to the local trauma centres. The pursued vehicle, identified as a Kia sedan, collided with a semi-truck, causing the car to burst into flames. Sources indicate that the force of the collision led the Kia to ignite. This resulted in major injuries to the Kia’s occupants and the driver of the semi-truck. Footage revealed the urgent response from fire crews, who battled the flames, and police officers, who pulled the individuals away from the burning wreckage. The pursuit was initiated by the Long Beach Police Department, however the reason for the chase remains unclear. The aftermath of the crash led to the closure of all northbound lanes on the 710 Freeway for several hours as clean-up crews worked to clear the swath of debris scattered across the roadway. The 710 Freeway was reopened to northbound traffic shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday. No further information on the identities of those involved or potential arrests has been released at this time. Future updates regarding the investigation into this crash will be handled by CHP.
