Authorities in Illinois have confirmed the identities of two adolescent girls who lost their lives in a tragic boating incident this past week. It has been reported that 16-year-old Sarina Vootkur of Lake Forest and 13-year-old Elle Kim of Long Grove, Illinois, unfortunately succumbed to their injuries following the tragic event.The Lake County Sheriffs Office confirmed during autopsies conducted Thursday that the cause of the girls’ untimely deaths was attributed to ‘blunt force injuries’ sustained in the brutal collision. Sources report that the incident occurred on Lake Marie, near Antioch Township, a town around 70 miles north of Chicago. Vootkur was manning a Yamaha WaveRunner, with Kim as a passenger. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the two girls were traveling at a high rate of speed, directly in the path of a speedboat operated by a 55-year-old Illinois resident.The subsequent collision resulted in both girls being ejected into the water, where they were both knocked unconscious. Fortunately, they were both equipped with life vests, allowing passengers from the speedboat to recover them from the water and administer first aid.However, despite rapid transportation to a nearby hospital, both girls were pronounced deceased upon arrival.This unfortunate incident did not result in any other reported injuries. The Sheriffs Office and Illinois Conservation Police continue to thoroughly review the circumstances of this event.
