A traffic collision occurred earlier today at the intersection of Sierra Hwy and W Avenue E, sources say. The eastbound and westbound lanes on Avenue E, as well as the northbound lanes on Sierra Hwy were affected by the traffic incident. Notably, the southbound lanes of Sierra Hwy leading to eastbound Avenue E lanes were also impacted. Responders worked to clear the area and open the southbound lanes up to Sierra Hwy.According to reports, the accident involved a semi-truck and a Honda Civic, with the driver of the latter reportedly trapped in the vehicle. Details released state that the Honda vehicle was starting to catch fire. Responders were on the scene, working to extricate the trapped party who remained conscious throughout the process.During the response, authorities requested assistance from the LA County Department of Road Services to divert traffic southbound Sierra at Avenue D and northbound Sierra at Avenue F. While the intersection remained blocked during the rescue operation, local law enforcement agencies assisted with traffic direction, keeping the area cleared as much as possible.
