A traffic collision occurred on I405 South, at a location just north of Palms Boulevard, causing disruption on the freeway.Sources say the accident, which occurred during the afternoon hours, involved multiple vehicles, including a grey SUV, a red pickup truck, and two motorcycles. According to witnesses, the riders of the motorcycles were reportedly engaged in unsafe speeding prior to the incident. Both riders sustained head injuries and were subsequently attended to by emergency medical services. The incident led to the temporary closure of the freeway’s high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane and the first additional lane, to facilitate the arrival of emergency services and towing operations.Units from a local law enforcement agency were dispatched to the scene immediately after the accident was reported, with their best access to the site being from the National on-ramp to the Southbound 405. Two towing services were also called to the accident location. Ensuring the quick clearance of vehicles from the freeway lanes is a critical factor in restoring normal traffic flow as rapidly as possible. The local law enforcement units remained on the scene until all unnecessary vehicles were removed and traffic could pass through without hindrance.
