In a tragic turn of events, a fatal crash occurred early Friday in the San Gabriel Valley, which resulted in three deaths and two injuries, including a child. A motorist, suspected of DUI, crashed into several parked vehicles and a power pole on East Graves Avenue near Cecil Street in Monterey Park. Sources say the violent collision took place just after midnight. First respondents were local officers already patrolling the area at the time of the accident, who promptly rushed to the scene following the loud crash sounds. A witness, living nearby, recounted the terrifying experience, describing a loud crash followed by a gust of wind, dust, and debris that woke him up.The driver involved in the accident was conscious when the officers arrived. Reports from the driver confirmed that there were five people in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Unfortunately, one occupant was unaccounted for immediately after the crash. Following a search, the missing male adult was found deceased on the rooftop of a nearby house.The other two fatalities, a man and a woman, were discovered inside the crashed vehicle. The victims are only known to be a woman in her 50s and two men in their 30s at present time. A 7-year-old girl along with the driver, both wearing seatbelts, survived the crash and were hospitalized. Witnesses near the scene described the young girl as being visibly shocked and scared as paramedics attended to her.Investigators believe the cause of the crash may likely be driving under the influence and excess speed. As a result of the investigation, East Graves Avenue was temporarily closed. The full detail of the incident continues to be under investigation by authorities.
