A fatal head-on collision occurred on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu on the Fourth of July, leaving one man deceased. Sources have now identified the driver involved as a social media influencer with a following of more than 100,000 users on Instagram. The collision happened near Carbon Canyon Road just past 10 p.m. The driver, recognized as Summer Wheaton, was operating a 2019 white Mercedes Benz sedan and was heading eastbound. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department, Wheaton crossed the center median and collided with a 2020 Cadillac SUV travelling westbound.The driver of the Cadillac did not survive the accident. Wheaton and a passenger in the Cadillac were transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injures.Wheaton, who is 32 years old, had previously worked as a licensed real estate agent before transitioning her career towards wellness advocacy that stressed on healthy living. The influencer’s social media and personal website, where she labels herself as the CEO of two innovative startups, have since been made private following her identification in the fatal collision.The fatal accident happened concurrently with a party being held at the nearby Nobu restaurant, despite the evident lack of the required city permits. The circumstances leading to the crash, and whether drugs or alcohol were factors, are still under investigation by the sheriffs department.
