A tragic accident occurred in the Santa Clarita Valley on Monday evening when a horse was struck by a sedan car. This incident which happened around 8:30 p.m. took place near the intersection of Iron Canyon and Sand Canyon roads, east of Santa Clarita.Local residents reported hearing the collision and subsequent reaction of the sedan’s driver, a female, who began to scream following the impact. On-scene evidence indicates significant front-end damage to the vehicle. The sedan’s front bumper was completely torn off and the windshield was shattered largely due to the force of the collision.Sources confirmed the horse died at the site of the crash. There are yet uncertainties regarding whether the horse had a rider at the time or if it was alone when the unfortunate incident happened. A saddle was observed on the horse, which prompted further investigation.The driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, though her current health status remains undisclosed. Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver was not under the influence of any intoxicants at the time of the collision.
