A high-speed car chase occurred in the San Fernando Valley on July 4th, 2024, involving a male driver in a red Toyota Prius, believed to be stolen. Reports reveal that the suspect reached speeds of 60-70 miles per hour on surface streets, running red lights, and driving on the wrong side of the road. The chase took a sudden turn when the suspect drove into a dead-end street and collided with a metal gate, resulting in significant damage to the vehicle’s front end and driver-side. Despite this, the suspect maneuvered onto the freeway, narrowly avoiding other vehicles while maintaining speeds over 100 miles per hour. The pursuit began around 7:45 p.m., with several San Fernando police units closely tailing the suspect. As the chase escalated, the suspect attempted to ram the gate of an apartment complex on Sunland Boulevard but was unsuccessful. Following this, he abandoned the vehicle and fled into the complex. According to sources, officers have since cordoned off the complex to conduct a search. The suspect was last thought to be hidden within one of the apartment residences. Additionally, reports indicate that the same vehicle was involved in an earlier chase the same day, led by Burbank police, who had lost track of the car. More updates will follow as this situation unfolds.
