In the early hours of Friday morning, two people were fatally injured in a multi-vehicle collision that caused the closure of the northbound lanes on the 405 Freeway through the Culver City area. The California Highway Patrol reported the crash at approximately 2:15 a.m. near National Boulevard.Upon arrival, the Los Angeles Fire Department found the vehicles ablaze. The fire was so intense that it engulfed multiple vehicles. Unfortunately, by the time fire containment and rescue operations were concluded, two victims from the crash were pronounced dead at the scene. As of yet, there have not been any details released regarding the identities of the victims.Due to the severity of the crash, traffic management issued a Sigalert for the closure of all northbound lanes at around 2:30 a.m. This alert remained in place for nearly five hours as emergency services worked to handle the aftermath of the crash and facilitate cleanup. The freeway was eventually reopened at around 7 a.m., signaling the culmination of extensive efforts by local authorities.Currently, no information regarding the cause of the crash has been released.
