Three teenagers have been identified as the victims of a deadly high-speed pursuit in San Bernardino County that ended in a violent, fiery crash near Foothill Boulevard and Archibald Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga. The incident started around 1:45 a.m. when deputies attempted to stop a suspected driver under the influence. The black 2018 Hyundai, when signaled to pull over, instead sped away. The pursuit was supported from the air by an aviation unit, and after about six minutes, the chase ended in tragedy.Travelling west on 16th Street in Upland, the driver entered the intersection of Mountain Avenue and collided with a white Ford Mustang, which was not involved in the chase. The Hyundai then veered off and struck a pole. As a result of the collision, the suspect vehicle separated into three parts and caught fire, resulting in the deaths of four out of the five occupants. The deceased have been identified as 16-year-old Jesus Guillen Jr., and Joel Jeremiah Silva, and 17-year-old Michael Adrian Gomez. A 13-year-old boy from the same vehicle was rushed to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive. The two victims in the Ford Mustang, a 35-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, both from Ontario, were taken to the hospital as a precaution.Further investigations revealed that the vehicle involved in the chase had been reported stolen and a loaded firearm was found in the possession of one of the deceased. Authorities have confirmed that there are three parallel investigations underway: the pursuit, cause and manner of suspects’ deaths, and a collision investigation. Anonymous tips will be appreciated.
