At least one individual has been reported dead and three others left critically injured in a head-on collision that occurred on the evening of June 4, 2024 in Playa del Rey. The two-vehicle accident took place on Vista Del Mar’s 8800 block shortly before 8:00 PM, according to sources close to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene to find multiple individuals needing medical attention, with one person found deceased within one of the wrecked vehicles. Teams worked to extricate passengers from the debris of the collision.
The severely damaged vehicles – a blue sedan and a white SUV – were visibly imprinted with the evidence of the forceful impact. The sedan, in particular, exhibited extensive damage, and appears to be the vehicle from which passengers were being extracted.
Three individuals were expedited to the hospital in critical condition, at least two of whom required extrication from the wreckage. Those transferred to the hospital for treatment have been identified as a 30-year-old woman, an 18-year-old girl, an 18-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy. Auto debris from the collision was scattered across the roadway, a common sight along the Dockweiler Beach parallel.
The cause of the collision remains unclear and the road has been temporarily closed to traffic as authorities continue with their investigation. The identities of the victims have not been released at this time.
