A woman was killed and others injured following a collision of two cars during a suspected street takeover in the Willowbrook neighborhood of Los Angeles early Saturday morning. Preliminary information sourced indicates that the accident took place around 12:45 am at the cross-section of El Segundo Boulevard and South Central Avenue. Witnesses suggest that at least one of the vehicles in the crash was part of a departing street takeover convoy.Footage from shortly after the incident shows a heavily damaged black Infiniti sedan on the South Central Boulevard sidewalk, contrasted by a similarly damaged black Toyota hatchback resting at the corner of El Segundo and South Central. The collision resulted from the Toyota, driven by 32-year-old Kimberly Dunne, broadsiding the now stationary Infiniti on Central. Sources reveal that the driver of the Infiniti, a man who has not yet been identified, absconded following the crash. He was carrying two female passengers, one of whom sustained moderate injures and was transported to the hospital. The other passenger suffered severe injuries and subsequently died. The deceased was identified as 22-year-old Brenda Mejia. The injured passenger was named as 20-year-old Sharlyn Vaca.Current evidence implies that impaired driving contributed to the tragic accident. Any details surrounding the incident should be relayed to Officer Ritter at the California Highway Patrol’s South Los Angeles office.
