Sources report that last Thursday night in the San Fernando Valley, police pursued a male suspect who was reportedly driving erratically in what is believed to be a stolen red Toyota Prius. During the pursuit, the suspect reached speeds of 60-70 miles per hour on surface streets, ran red lights, and drove on the wrong side of the road. Unable to navigate a dead-end side street, he crashed into a metal gate, causing substantial damage to the vehicle’s front and driver-side.After this incident, the man returned to driving, transitioning onto the freeway where he weaved dangerously through traffic, reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour. The chase began at around 7:45 p.m., with several San Fernando police units in pursuit of the suspect.Eventually, the man turned the vehicle into the gated entrance of an apartment complex located on Sunland Boulevard in Sunland. Attempting to force the gate open with the vehicle proved unsuccessful. Subsequently, the man disembarked from the damaged car, entering the complex and hiding within a residential unit. Law enforcement units have presently surrounded the complex and are conducting a search for the suspect.According to reports, the involved vehicle had been part of an earlier pursuit on the same day carried out by Burbank police, who had lost track of the car.A related video capturing the pursuit is expected to be released soon.
