A fatal single-vehicle accident occurred in Pasadena, California, on May 11, resulting in the death of three individuals and leaving three others injured. The accident involved a 2018 Tesla Model 3 and happened at 2:38 a.m. in the 2300 block of Foothill Boulevard.Sources report that the vehicle was traveling at high speeds, significantly over the 35 mph speed limit. The car ran a red light at Sierra Madre Boulevard and narrowly missed another vehicle at the intersection. Looking at Vista Avenue, the Tesla hit a curb and lost control. The car eventually hit a street light, was launched into the air, and then collided with a power pole and a vacant building.Authorities say there were six occupants in the vehicle, including four passengers in the backseat who were not wearing seatbelts. All occupants were ejected upon impact.The fatalities include the car’s driver, a 22-year-old male, his 17-year-old sister who is critically injured, and a 20-year-old male who was seated in the rear of the vehicle. Two other individuals, aged 20 and 18, were transported to the hospital in stable condition.The county medical examiner’s office will perform a toxicology test to check if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.Residents state that speeding is an ongoing concern in the crash area.
