The accident, initially reported as a collision with unknown injuries, was upgraded to a collision with emergency medical services en route. The authorities received calls regarding the incident at around 4:39 PM. One of the vehicles involved was a Rivian SUV, which was reportedly locked up due to the collision. The driver requested for a flatbed truck to tow the vehicle from the scene. The towing service, EZ TOW, was contacted at 4:52 PM and was assigned to remove the vehicle. Following the collision, the authorities alerted a highway patrol officer at 4:40 PM to divert any vehicles attempting to join the freeway at the Devonshire on-ramp to secure the scene. A short while later, they confirmed the location for the Fire Brigade to assist with the scene.
