A traffic collision on I10 W near Kellogg Drive led to significant traffic disturbances and lane closures, sources say. The incident involved a white Dodge pickup truck and a semi-truck, which reportedly resulted in the pickup truck catching fire. The collision was severe enough to call for assistance from both the FALCK Ambulance and LACO Fire Department.Initial reports suggest that the semi-truck was parked on the roadside when the pickup hit it from behind. Good samaritans were quick to respond to the scene and attempted to pull the truck out from under the semi. Despite these efforts, the pickup truck caught fire leading to further complications.In response, authorities promptly closed the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane, as well as lanes 1, 2, 3, and 4 sequentially for investigation and to facilitate the clearing of the scene. Following the incident, several additional units were assigned to manage traffic and aid with scene clearance. At approximately 3:41 PM, authorities were able to reopen the lanes and the Kellogg Dr. on-ramp to WB 10. A Sigalert was issued due to the intensity of the incident, and media were alerted to help disseminate information to local motorists.Traffic control, including units and authorities deployed at the scene, worked diligently to alleviate traffic congestion and restore order to the I10 W. By late afternoon, all lanes and entry points had been reopened to the public.An investigation is currently underway to further understand the circumstances surrounding the collision. No names or potential causes have been released as of yet.
