Sources report an incident involving multiple vehicles on SR60 East near the transition road to SR57 North in California earlier today. Initial reports indicated that between six to eight vehicles were involved in the accident, including a big rig, white Ford R150, white sedan, grey sedan, and silver Toyota Highlander.The accident led to the deployment of airbags and resulted in vehicles blocking lanes on the highway as well as the shoulder of the road. A big rig truck collided with a car, resulting in major front-end damage to the truck. A sedan also received substantial rear-end damage. Multiple people were reported to have exited their vehicles to walk around in the lanes immediately after the accident. The transition road was ultimately shutdown for a short period.Emergency services were dispatched, including response teams who were called to assist with towing and to clear debris. The California Highway Patrol’s Traffic Management Center reported the incident to local media while informing them about the ensuing traffic disruption that was expected to last approximately 90 minutes. The number 3 lane on the transition road remained closed for some time but was eventually reopened along with lanes 1 and 2.Traffic control and cleanup operations were carried out in subsequent hours, with final clearance given later in the evening. The exact cause of the accident is not yet known and an ongoing investigation is expected.
