On Thursday afternoon in Hawthorne, five juveniles were apprehended following a pursuit involving officers and a stolen vehicle. Authorities said the juveniles tried to evade capture by concealing themselves in a nearby residential district. The pursuit began around 12:20 p.m. The vehicle involved was reportedly a small gray SUV, possibly a Kia Soul. The vehicle was seen on the 110 and 405 Freeways, reaching speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. The high speeds were enabled by reduced traffic conditions, typically seen on public holidays like July 4th.Interestingly, all five individuals abandoned the alleged stolen vehicle in Hawthorne just prior to 1 p.m. and dispersed into the nearby residential area. By 10 minutes past one, sources say that the juveniles appeared to have entered various residences. Local authorities continued searching the area and anticipated the suspects to leave their hiding places. The intensive search led to the successful capturing of all five juveniles. Due to the necessary departure of a news crew, the apprehension of the suspects wasn’t immediately reported. These events underscore the ongoing efforts by local authorities to maintain public safety and order in the face of various community challenges.
