According to sources, officers from the Los Angeles Police Department initiated a pursuit of a stolen white vehicle in the University Park region, before it went into downtown L.A. on July 2, 2024. The suspects led authorities on a high-speed chase across the city, ignoring traffic rules and endangering other motorists on the road.

Given the escalating risk posed by the suspect’s reckless manner of driving, ground patrol units decided to disengage from the pursuit. However, the authorities continued to track the vehicle from the air. A total of four suspects were believed to have been in the stolen vehicle at the time of the chase.

The chase seemed to come to an end near 21st Street, when the driver and three other occupants fled the vehicle on foot. It looked like they jumped multiple fences before eventually seeking refuge in an apartment building located on E. 20th Street. LAPD set up a perimeter around the building, but no clear updates were available once air support left the area.

As of 8:30 p.m., it was uncertain whether the suspects had been apprehended. Further updates regarding the situation are awaited.
