A male individual lost his life in a two-vehicle collision in Burbank on Saturday night due to, according to sources, high-speed driving. Both vehicles involved were reportedly moving at a high pace eastwards along Vanowen Street near Hollywood Way when the tragic event happened at roughly 11:15 p.m. The high speed and force of the impact sent the vehicles crashing into a utility pole, followed by a fire hydrant. The collision knocked down the utility pole, and one of the cars, a white Scion, sheared off the fire hydrant. The driver of the white Scion was ejected from the car owing to the severity of the accident. Sources declare him to have received fatal injuries at the scene. A video captured by a citizen evidently showed significant damage to the vehicle, with the victim seemingly entrapped under the vehicle. It was also noticeable that water was gushing out from the sheared fire hydrant due to the force as first responders tried to assist the victim. The second vehicle involved in the collision, a Toyota Corolla, survived the incident with the driver sustaining moderate injuries. The driver was attended to and treated by the paramedics at the crash scene. Sources have yet to disclose the identity of the deceased, pending notification to the next of kin. Speed is believed to have played a role in the cause of this fatal crash. However, if drugs or alcohol were also involved remains uncertain.
