A troubling incident early Sunday morning resulted in chaos in downtown Los Angeles, when a man commandeered a Los Angeles police department patrol vehicle, with the officer still inside the car, and reported to have caused a multi-vehicle accident. The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. According to sources, a female officer was carrying out security duties at the intersection of 12th and Figueroa streets when the man approached, entered her vehicle, and drove away. The officer was forcibly removed from the vehicle and subsequently fell onto the road. The suspect then reportedly sped north on Figueroa Street. He is said to have collided with two cars at the cross section of 8th Street before smashing into a pole. The situation escalated as he attempted to flee the scene, however, he was promptly arrested, as per police statements. The suspect’s actions led to a multi-vehicle pileup, resulting in injury for several individuals, including the female officer, although no injuries were considered to be life-threatening. Due to the incident, the area around 8th and Figueroa was temporarily closed off to the public for several hours. This allowed authorities to investigate the scene, collect witness statements, and clear debris and wreckage caused by the incident.
